Home PhD Research Short Bio Publications Downloads More About Me
So this page is about me and does not have necessarily directly anything to do with my PhD project.
And when I have more time, I might put up some more info here, but I'm lacking time right now.

Photos
I'd like to promote my Photo gallery of Australia and Sydney. I'm new to Australia and Sydney so I see most things with new eyes. Maybe I even see the speciality in the things which normal Sydneysiders or born Australians think are quite normal. Anyway if you're interested take a look, the comments are only in Dutch at the moment, but hey, a Gallery is supposed to be about the pictures and a picture says more than a thousands words.

Science and Religion
One of the great scientist in the past and one of my favourites, is Blaise Pascal. He is almost a scientific hero in my eyes if such a thing exists. History generally remembers him as a great physicists, but in his own eyes he was a theologian. Being a christian aswell I'm really inspired by his work especially in the way he combines christianity and science. And for me my christian believe is not only the reason why I'm involved in science but actually also the reason why I like science.
One of Pascal's most interesting works are his thought which are found after his death. They're called his Pensées (link to www.ccel.org) in French, if you're interested you definitely should check this out, although real book would read better.

Most people think religion is slowing down science, or at least contradicting it. But there are good arguments to state quite the opposite, if you interested you should read this article by Charles Colson because he can say this much more eloquently than I can.
