Short Bio

(Last Modified: Sunday, 16 July 2006)

I studied Computer Science in France at Université de la Méditerranée (Marseille II), where I completed a Degree in Technology (DUT) in Computing at IUT Aix-en-Provence in 1994, then a DEA (Masters by Research in France) with distinction at Faculté des Sciences de Luminy in 1997.

After graduating, I spent a year teaching mathematics in high school and working casually as a Research Programmer for CNRS in Marseille. I then worked as a Software Engineer in an outsourcing company (SOPRA) in France from 1998 until 2001. I came to Australia early 2001 to work for an IT company (IPP) in Sydney, specialised in consultancy services. In August the same year I then joined the Centre for Language Technology at Macquarie University in Sydney, where I worked as a Research Programmer with Robert Dale until June 2003.

In July 2003 I enrolled at Macquarie University (MU) as a full-time Ph.D. student in Computer Science. After setting up an agreement of joint supervision (cotutelle) between MU and Université de Provence (UP) in France, I officially joined UP in January 2004 as a Cotutelle Ph.D. sudent. I now work on my Ph.D. project in Computational Linguistics at the Centre for Language Technology at MU in Sydney, and at the Laboratoire Parole et Langage (Speech and Language Laboratory) (LPL) at UP in Aix-en-Provence. My supervisors are Diego Mollá Aliod and Mark Dras from the CLT, and Philippe Blache from CNRS and LPL.

My Ph.D. is funded by an International Macquarie University Research Scholarship (iMURS).
