Research Issues
Given our aim to develop techniques that lead to enhanced efficiency of automatically generated route descriptions delivered in the physical context of use, we are focusing on the following aspects:
- the device-independent representation of route plans
- the segmentation of information contents for efficient presentation in the context of a navigation task
- the analysis of human provided route description corpora
- the generation of more natural sounding route descriptions using NLG techniques
Investigation of each of these issues is being validated through the development of system prototypes and reported on in publications and presentations.
