Scholarships in ICS > Trust enhanced secure distributed applications
Secure trustworthy computing is becoming increasingly significant in the networked information economy. Though trust is used in many a context, design of secure trustworthy computing systems and applications pose significant research challenges due to different notions of trust and its dynamic nature, a lack of integration between security and trust, and the failure to incorporate them effectively in application development. This project will achieve conceptual advances by proposing a comprehensive new trust model adaptable to dynamic changes, by designing trust enhanced security management architecture, and demonstrate their effectiveness by integrating them in the development of a practical secure distributed e-commerce application. The scholarship offered will involve research work in the design and analysis of trusted platform architectures, design and analysis of trust models, development of trust management architecture and the design and implementation of trust-enhanced secure application.
Applicants should have either completed an Australian four-year undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline with high first class honours, or, for overseas applicants, be able to demonstrate equivalent qualifications.
The scholarship pays a living allowance currently $19,231 per annum, tax exempt (2006) and the tenure is 3.5 years full time subject to satisfactory progress. Tuition fees will be funded for the scholarship tenure with domestic students receiving RTS placement for their research degree tuition and International award holders having their fees sponsored.
Further information on the project is available from the supervisor: Vijay Varadharajan, telephone 9850 9534, vijay@ics.mq.edu.au.
