We deliver postgraduate programs in Information Technology (IT) and Engineering that give you the opportunity to strengthen your understanding of underlying principles by applying them to practical and industry focused problems. Postgraduate coursework involves structured programs of study in discrete units leading to a qualification of Certificate, Diploma or Masters. Assessment is usually based on completed assignments, presentations and exams.

Master of Information Technology
The Master of Information Technology program is designed for students who are established IT professionals and want to hone their skills in a particular area, build on the knowledge gained in their undergraduate degree, or to simply give themselves the edge in career advancement.
Our program is designed to allow students to have the ultimate flexibility in choosing a program that suits their needs and desires. As many of our units are delivered by industry professionals, classes are conducted in the evenings, at weekends and online.

Master of Consulting in Information Technology
The Master of Consulting degree prepares students for a consulting career
in the Information Technology industry. Coursework includes a wide selection
of units in advanced areas of Information Technology. The degree culminates
in two semesters of industry placement to gain real-world experience, combined
with material specific to the roles and responsibilities of consultants.
Applicants for this degree will usually be interviewed to determine suitability
for industry placement.
This program articulates from the Master of Information Technology and gives students the opportunity for 1 year of practical and industry focused experience with two 6-month internship placements in industry, complimented by a series of workshops on campus teaching relevant skills as well as useful networking sessions with senior industry professionals.

Master of Engineering Management
This degree is ideal for students with an engineering or IT background, who wish to make the move into management. The program is designed to provide a pathway into engineering management for professional engineers who do not wish to complete a full MBA but who want to benefit from a program that includes the high quality of management teaching available from the MGSM, executive-level adjuncts from the IT and Engineering industry and top academics from the Division of ICS. Core units are recognised for credit towards postgraduate programs offered by the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
The Master of Engineering Management includes lecturers with expertise from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and the Division of Information and Communication Sciences as well as industry adjuncts.

Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology
The Postgraduate Diploma in IT degree offers the same specialisations as the Master of Information Technology, but students only need to complete 24 credit points (6 units).
The entry requirements are the same as for the Master of Information Technology.

Graduate Diploma in Information Technology
The Graduate Diploma in IT is designed to equip students who do NOT have IT experience and wanting to change career direction with the necessary skills to move into an Information Technology career.
It is an introductry program in Information Technology and after completing this degree with a strong GPA, students can proceed to the Master of Information Technology.

How to Apply
International Applicants
The University's International Office manages the applications, admissions and fee payments for all our international students. They offer a complete range of services for international students from first course enquiries to applications, admissions, accommodation and post-arrival support.
Your application for admission to our programs needs to be received by the University's International Office by the following dates, however late applications are accepted:
* End of November for courses beginning in February
* End of May for courses beginning in July
Read the admission information website provided by the International Office, where you can find an application form and information on the application and admission process. Submit the application form together with your supporting documentation (in English or certified translations into English) to the International Office.
Local Applicants (except Graduate Diploma in IT)
Australian applicants should complete the postgraduate coursework application form, and attach certified copies of all necessary documents to support your application.
If you've discontinued your Macquarie University postgraduate coursework program, and you're applying for readmission, please complete a postgraduate readmission application form. For more detailed information on Admission procedures, please refer to the Postgraduate Studies Section of Macquarie University.

Closing dates are generally mid-January to start in Semester 1 and end of June to start in Semester 2, but students should check the Postgraduate Studies Section website for dates and deadlines information.
Local Applicants for Graduate Diploma in IT
Australian applicants are required to complete the Application for Graduate Diploma in IT for Semester 1 2009.
The applications close on Tuesday 30th September 2008.
