Postgraduate Programs at ICS
Coursework
The Division of Information and Communication Sciences (ICS) offers postgraduate coursework degrees in Information and Communication Technologies. Postgraduate coursework involves structured programs of study in discrete units, leading to a qualification of Certificate, Diploma or Masters. Assessment is usually based on completed assignments, presentations and exams.
ICS offers specialist programs to candidates with an undergraduate degree in information technology, in areas such as Web Technologies, System Security, Software Engineering, ICT Management, Internetworking and Information Systems. Candidates without a background in information technology can apply for our intensive one-year Graduate Diploma program (available in 2005).

Research
The Division of Information and Communication Sciences (ICS) offers full time and part time research programs, which lead to a qualification of Doctor of Philosophy, Honours Degree of Master, or the Degree of Master by Research.
All research degree programs involve the preparation of a thesis, which embodies the results of a student's research work. The thesis is assessed by a panel of external experts.
ICS is one of Macquarie University's strongest research Divisions and excels in all research indicators including publications, internal and external competitive research grants, research contracts, Australian Research Council (ARC) Fellowships. With numerous exciting research opportunities offered, the Division aims to double the number of postgraduate research students in the next two years.
