Title: DADA: Ingesting and Querying Annotations
Speaker: Steve Cassidy

This talk will describe our most recent work with the DADA linguistic
annotation server. This server provides an HTTP based interface to a
large scale annotation store with the ability to update as well as
query the annotations on the server. It is intended to be able to
manage any kind of annotation on text, audio or video data. The talk
will outline the three-sided server architecture we are proposing for
storing primary data, meta-data and annotations and how client
applications might interact with these.

We have recently begun ingesting real data into the annotation store.
Two primary targets are PARADISEC annotations of audio and video which
are generated with ELAN and the Open American National Corpus (OANC)
which uses standoff markup on plain text documents. I will describe
the process of ingesting this data and talk about the RDF structures
that are built when we do so.

SPARQL is a query language for RDF data that we can easily provide on
our store. I will try to demonstrate how some interesting queries
might be answered by the server and the kind of data that you would
get back in response.
