Title: Issues in Naturalistic Speech Synthesis
Speaker: Ilya Anisimoff

This talk will describe my exploration of technologies for naturalistic
speech synthesis.

In the first part of the talk I will provide a basic overview of some the
current speech synthesis methods and their relative strengths and
weaknesses.

The focus of the second half of the talk will be on my efforts to test the
upper bounds of realistic synthetic speech from markup by resynthesising
newsreader speech using annotations contained in the Boston University Radio
News Corpus.
