Title: DADA-HCS Project Status Report
Speaker: Steve Cassidy

Steve will report on the status of the DADA-HCS project which is currently
being supported by a small grant from MELCOE to examine authentication and
authorisation issues around access to language resources. As part of this
we are developing our annotation server and investigating the storage of LR
in the Muradora data repository.

Title: Towards defining Requests and Commitments in Email
Speaker: Andrew Lampert

The goal of my PhD research is to assist email users by creating tools that
can automatically detect requests and commitments in incoming and outgoing
email messages. To do so requires agreement about what actually qualifies an
utterance as a request or a commitment. Previous related work is quite vague
in this regard. I'll talk specifically about our
experience (and sometimes vigorous disagreement) from annotating 1000
sentences in the Enron email corpus which is leading us towards more
comprehensive definitions for requests and commitments in email.
