Title: Enhancing Web Forums Through Automatic Quality Assessment
Speaker: Markus Weimer

Assessing the quality of forum posts is an important problem. Currently,
most web forums need their users to rate content manually, which is labour
intensive and thus happens rarely.

I will present recent work on automatically assessing the perceived quality
of web forum discussions. The system learns from human rating behaviour by
applying SVM classification based on Surface, Lexical, Syntactic, Forum
specific and Similarity features. Our system has shown to be adaptable to
different domains of discourse in our experiments on three different web
forum data sets and I will present results on these data sets.

I will close my talk with some ideas regarding speech and dialogue act
classification of web forum discussions and would love to discuss that topic
afterwards.
