Title: A Tale of Two Talks - Classifying Personality in Weblogs &
Summarising Company News
Speaker: Scott Nowson

The first of my talks is in preparation for my presenting at the
International Conference on Weblogs and Social Media.  I shall be
discussing recent work in the automatic classification of author
personality from linguistic data.  Specifically, applying models
derived from a very small but clean dataset to a much larger yet
dirtier corpus.

The second of my talks will concern my current work on the
summarisation of company news.  After an overview of the evolution
from the GainSpring project to SMARTSearch I will discuss
summarisation using examples from an announcement corpus.  I will look
at both good and bad examples from the existing system, as well as
suggesting some future approaches to simple summarisation.
