Title: Web 2.0 vs. NLP: opportunity or threat

Speaker: Steve Cassidy




Web 2.0 is supposed to be the new age of the web, rich applications, 
social networks, tagging etc. Perhaps more accurately it's a name for 
what the web has evolved into.  In this talk I want to take the position 
that the wonderful things that NLP has been trying to do for some time 
on the web are all redundant because of the way that the web has 
evolved. I want to take that position but it might not be too easy :-)

I'll take a look at what Web 2.0 might be, look at some of the phenomena 
of the new web and ask what the opportunities or threats are for NLP.
