Title: Case Based Reasoning in Dependency-based Machine Translation

Abstract:
Most example based approaches for machine translation are seen as a form of Case Based Reasoning, which is a scheme developed in the AI world. The most famous project on example based machine translation is 1990 paper of Satoshi Sato and Makoto Nagao called "Toward Memory-based Translation". The talk I want to do is about my masters project which I've completed a year ago. Here I tried to use the framework for Case Based Reasoning of Aamodt, A. and Plaze, E. (1994) "Case-based reasoning: Foundational issues methodological variations, and system approaches" for machine Translation". First I'd like to tell something about Case Based Reasoning, then how this can be applied to Machine Translation. In the most critical factor in Case Based Reasoning, "the similarity measure", I've chosen to use parsing not only to build the cases but to derive this measures.
