Title: Support Vector Machine Classifiers for Speaker Identification

Abstract:
I've recently become interested in looking at the capabilities of
SVM classifiers in particular with relation to my work on
speaker tracking in meetings. My interest was peaked by a paper
comparing various classifiers for a text classification task which
showed SVM as the best performer and my standby Bayesian classifier
as the worst.

My aim in this talk is to go into some detail about the methods used
in SVM classifiers and hopefully to present the results of some initial
experiments with my own speech data comparing SVM with Bayesian
classifiers. I'll also review the work on text classification which
mentions some other methods of interest.
