Industry@ICS - International Internships

Macquarie University invites your organisation to become a partner in providing internships for Study Abroad and Exchange students at Macquarie University

Internships provide students with an opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a relevant organisation, while completing their studies in Australia. Students accepted into the program will be the "cream of the crop" - in the top 10% of their classes. Many will also have extensive work experience in local businesses or community organisations.

The Internship Program is an excellent opportunity to complete short-term projects within your organisation. Interns are intelligent, self-motivated, resourceful students who can be a valuable addition to your workplace. As students, most have highly developed research skills. They are capable of working independently or in groups.

The student will join your organisation on a part-time basis for three months. It is expected that they will work two-three days each week, or up to eighteen hours per week.

The internship will be a formal part of their Macquarie studies - they will be assessed by visits, interviews, reports and a major assignment. In conjunction with the internship, students will take one or two units from the normal selection of Macquarie subjects. This will ensure that they are socially connected with other Macquarie students and have access to the full range of Macquarie University support services.

Administration is handled by the Macquarie University International Office. This includes the recruitment and selection of suitable interns, finding internship placements, providing orientation on Australia and Australian business culture, providing housing and ongoing support services, and liaising with academic supervisors.
