The following information will assist you to budget for, advertise, select and (re)appoint staff. The ICS HR Manager is available to assist with specific enquiries. The main steps are:
- decide on what type of appointment to make - description of types of appointment that can be made and links to the appointment grid and and generic general staff position descriptions. The appointment grid - provides tests to help decide whether to make a general vs academic appointment and fixed-term vs casual appointment and the revelant processes for each.
- do a budget - includes spreadsheet with annual, weekly and hourly salary rates to assist calculations - tab 1 for general staff and tab 2 for academic staff
- advertise - guidance on whether you are required to advertise and if so, how to go about it. This page also provides information about recruiting applicants who do not have work rights in Australia.
- select - guidance on how to conduct the selection process
- appoint / reappoint - guidance on the process for appointing or reappointing once you have found the right person for the job
