Performance Planning Development & Review
Requirements relating to staff performance and development at MU are detailed in the Enterprise Agreement Section 5. During 2008 a new Performance Planning, Development and Review System (PDRS) is being implemented across the University. This requires all supervisors and staff to attend various training and briefings in PDRS. The PDRS Overview (Module 1) was presented to ICS staff on 11/12/07 and includes an overview of the Division's strategic priorities for 2008.
For further information read the PDRS Policy and overview the PRDS guidelines and forms. PDRS comprises an annual performance planning, development and review cycle supported by formal and informal meetings with your supervisor. PDRS will inform the processes of probation, increment, accelerated increment, promotion and reward and recognition.

ICS Probation and Progression Committee
ICS ensures consistency in decisions about probation and accelerated increments through the ICS Probation and Progression Committee. The ICS Probation and
Progression Committee considers all recommendations for accelerated
increment and confirmation of appointment for continuing staff on probation. Supervisors recommending staff for accelerated increment
and confirmation of appointment should refer to the committee Terms of Reference for guidance. Supervisors of staff on probation should refer to the ICS Probation Policy. For more information please contact Cathy Wright.
Professional Development Opportunities
Internal professional development opportunities are provided by Centre for Professional Devleopment (CPD) and Library IT Training Unit (ITTU).
CPD facilitates leadership & management training, research training, higher eduction training in teaching and learning and more. ITTU provides training in common computer software. Courses run by CPD and ITTU are free for staff. While CPD and ITTU do not always require proof of supervisor approval to attend, staff must always obtain supervisor approval prior to attending a course. Courses to be undertaken should be identified as part of the annual performance review and development and relate to work done, or to be done by staff.
Teaching Evaluation
All fixed term and continuing academic staff members are required to have evaluation of teaching for at least one unit per academic year and are encouraged to make regular use of student evaluation of teaching. Evaluation of teaching is organised through CPD.
