Associate Professor Linda Davis has had a diverse career in engineering, including working on radar technology for the Australian Department of Defence to developing 3G receivers for base stations at Lucent Technologies, Sydney. "I think engineering as a profession is not widely understood. It was different for me as I have engineering in my family and would often go to the lab when I was a kid."

"Mathematics underpins a lot of my work, creating algorithms and protocols that translate to electronics." Since high school, Linda has had a natural aptitude and interest in science and mathematics. "I have always enjoyed maths; I like the elegance and efficiency of it. Maths is just a like a tool in a tool kit to help you solve problems". Apart from her teaching duties at the Department of Electronic Engineering at Macquarie University, Linda is also the Director of Integrated Wireless Communications Systems (iWCS) research centre. iWCS brings together researchers involved in the design and development of advanced wireless technology, from communication theory and techniques to systems and hardware.
