2006 Outreach for CUDOS at Macquarie
December, 4th - 6th : Teachers visit CUDOS @ MQ for an in-house research experience
CUDOS opens its doors to high school science teachers for a 3-day Optics immersion
Three high school science teachers visit CUDOS @ MQ as part of the CSIRO Teacher Research Scheme (NSW). The visit is a trial run for the national CUDOS outreach program to see if teachers benefit from experiencing life in a research centre for three days.
This program was unique as teachers were invited to co-create their program during their stay (as opposed to being given a research directive) in the hope that this would enhance opportunities for gaining experience in areas directly relevant to their individual needs at school.
The scheme was advertised on the Science Teachers Association web site, and if successful will be followed up with others. Find out more about the visit here.
