Interests Overview for CUDOS @ Macquarie

Following is a general overview of the breadth and depth of our interests.

Integrated Optics and Photonic Devices

Projects include fabrication and characterisation of 2-D and 3-D integrated optic devices in linear and non-linear materials, and the development of novel techniques for processing silicon wafers and the fabrication of novel MEMS devices for photonic applications.

Photonic Materials

We have a number of projects developing novel techniques for fabricating both linear photonic materials (such as 2-D and 3-D photonic crystals) and nonlinear photonic materials (such as periodically poled lithium niobate).

Radiation Dynamics

Projects include the exploration of experimental techniques for light propagation and generation in photonic crystals with and without optical gain and the development of theoretical methods to model these experiments. [Judith Dawes]
