Accessing Personal Files
Most directories are stored on Unix file servers. The two access methods supported are SCP and CIFS. CIFS is ONLY available within the divisional network.
SCP/SFTP
SCP/SFTP is similar to FTP but supports encrypted communication of username, password and file contents. Use this method to access files from anywhere on the Internet, including the wireless network.

Macintosh OSX: Fugu

CIFS
CIFS (Common Internet Filing Protocol) is similar to Microsoft Windows method of mapping to "network shares". Mac OSX users can also use CIFS. CIFS however, is less secure than SCP. CIFS is ONLY available within the divisional network.
Students should connect to: claudius.ics.mq.edu.au
Staff should connect to: cifs.ics.mq.edu.au
Macintosh:
In Finder, select Go -> Connect to Server
Type in the full server name to connect to prepended with "cifs://"

Windows:
Right click on the "Start" button an select "Explore"
Type in the server name to connect to. Note the backslashes are required.
A list of "shares" will pop up. The one that matches your username will be your home directory on the file server.
