Linear attacks have been widely used to analyze stream ciphers. Distinguishing attacks using linear attack (linear masking) have been successfully applied to several stream ciphers. In this talk, we present the linear attacks on NLS and Dragon which are both the candidates of the third phase in the eSTREAM project. We also show that the efficiency of these attacks can be improved by considering the dependency of the linear approximations that are used for the attacks.
